Brief Summary/Overview of Duties:

To monitor and direct training activities, develop training materials, lead training sessions, coordinate on-boarding of new Operations staff, coach Operations coordinators and provide feedback on staff selection.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) & Hands-On Training

  • Review, revise and prepare procedures/SOPs for compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices and to reflect current work activities in Operations department
  • Ensure procedures/SOPs for Operations department are of sufficient detail for technical content, accuracy, clarity, completeness, and flow. In particular, procedures in response to Bi-Annual Reviews, DRs, comments/audits by clients and regulatory agencies, change controls (CCs), new/modified equipment, committee findings (e.g. Compliance Meeting, Deviation Reduction Committee), and general changes in procedures
  • Ensure procedures/SOPs are regularly reviewed and kept up to date with proper approvals
  • Work closely with Compliance Department to ensure SOPs are reviewed and revised appropriately and training is provided
  • To be a member of committees (e.g. Compliance Meeting, Deviation Reduction Committee) and problem-solving teams
  • To develop training material and lead training sessions for Operations staff
  • To track status of in-process SOPs, training, and other activities

Training and Process Improvements

  • Prepare materials for informal (e.g. on-the-floor training) and formal training
  • Assess the learning styles and requirements of employees within Operations department and to design evaluation methods
  • Co-ordinate, conduct and document training sessions as required
  • Work with Operations Personnel to identify training and process improvements
  • Get the data to analyze training-related efficiency in the different work centers

Leading Training Projects

  • Organize and lead both Operations and cross-functional project teams
  • Develop realistic proposals and timelines
  • Liaise with Operations staff and other functional areas to meet project and team objectives

Training Metrics

  • Collect and analyze Operations training metrics and identify potential projects/solutions
  • Prepare problem solving strategies

Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Post Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • B.Sc. Preferred (Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering) 
  • Minimum 2 years working within a pharmaceutical processing environment
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented and organized, with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • In this role it is essential to perform shift work
  • Proficiency with the English language
  • Ability to motivate and engage employees at all levels to embrace training
