Patheon is well positioned to meet our customers' requirements for the manufacture of pharmaceutical dosage forms containing controlled substances. Six of our high-quality manufacturing facilities are licensed by local authorities to produce products containing controlled substances and include sites in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, and Italy. These licenses are administered by bodies such as the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Health Canada. In accordance with the licenses, these facilities include the necessary physical security infrastructure including vaults/cages, in addition to trained and qualified staff who adhere to strict control protocols and accountability systems resulting in a secure supply of controlled drug products for our customers.

The Toronto, Canada and Cincinnati, USA facilities also provide the capability to develop drug candidates that contain controlled substances. These two facilities offer integrated pharmaceutical development and manufacturing services to help customers quickly and efficiently move their controlled drug products from development to commercialization.
