Wesley P. Wheeler

Mr. Wheeler joined Patheon as Chief Executive Officer in December 2007. Mr. Wheeler’s 29-year career includes multinational experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, sales and marketing, R&D and engineering with three global pharmaceutical companies. He joined Patheon from Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, a California-based global specialty pharmaceutical company, where he served most recently as President, North America, R&D and Global Manufacturing. Prior to joining Valeant in 2003, Mr. Wheeler served as President and Chief Executive Officer of DSM Pharmaceuticals Inc., a contract pharmaceutical manufacturer, where he led the organization through a business turnaround, significantly increasing new business, compliance and profitability. Prior to DSM, Mr. Wheeler was Senior Vice-President of Logistics and Strategy for GlaxoSmithKline plc, where he managed the manufacturing rationalization of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham, which included a supply network of over 100 plants in 41 countries. Previous to his manufacturing role, Mr. Wheeler was Vice President of Marketing for Glaxo Wellcome, where he was responsible for antibiotic, antiviral, gastrointestinal and metabolic products, and was instrumental in developing the marketing services infrastructure. Mr. Wheeler joined Glaxo in 1989 after a 12-year career at Exxon Research & Engineering Co. Mr. Wheeler holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master of business administration degree from California Lutheran University.

Eric W. Evans
Chief Financial Officer & Executive Vice President

 

Mr. Evans joined Patheon in May 2008, bringing over 24 years of experience in various financial leadership roles in the pharmaceutical, steel, energy and financial services industries. Prior to joining Patheon he held progressively senior finance positions, including Vice President, Financial Services at Novartis. Prior to that Mr. Evans served as the Chief Financial Officer of Sandoz. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens University and a Graduate degree from the University of Western Ontario. Additionally, Mr. Evans earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

Terence S. Novak
President, North American Operations & Chief Commercial Officer

 

Mr. Novak joined Patheon in February 2008, bringing more than 28 years pharmaceutical industry experience, including senior commercial management positions at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Quintiles and Cytogen. Most recently, Mr. Novak was President of DSM Pharmaceuticals Inc., the contract manufacturing business arm of Netherlands-based Royal DSM, N.V. Mr. Novak is a highly regarded speaker at industry conferences and also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Contract Pharma magazine and the North Carolina Biotechnology Advisory Board. Mr. Novak holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Muhlenberg College.

Aldo Braca
President, Patheon Europe
 

Mr. Braca’s career includes 29 years with the European operations of Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he held positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining Patheon in 1999, Mr. Braca was President – Worldwide Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Worldwide Medicines Group, Bristol-Myers Squibb, with responsibility for 32 manufacturing plants and approximately 10,000 employees. Mr. Braca joined Patheon in 1999 and was appointed Executive Vice-President, European Business Development and President, Patheon Italia S.p.A. in July 2001. He was appointed to President, Patheon Europe in January 2004.   Mr. Braca has an educational background in industrial chemistry and also is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program.

Paul M. Garofolo
Executive Vice President & Chief Technology Officer
 

Mr. Garofolo serves as Executive Vice President of Engineering, Procurement, Patheon Advantage, and Information Technology. Mr. Garofolo joined Patheon in May 2008, bringing more than 14 years of information and management consulting leadership experience. Most recently, he served as Chief Information Officer at Valeant Pharmaceuticals where he was responsible for all aspects of the global IT organization including the implementation of a series of new applications and processes including; SAP, LiveLink (EDMS), and SQL*LIMS. Prior to that, Mr. Garofolo was the Chief Technology Officer for Broadlane, the fourth largest Group Purchasing Organization within the U.S. Healthcare market. He also worked in the management consulting industry for both Ernst & Young and Oracle. Mr. Garofolo holds a BSBA from the University of Arizona with a concentration in Management Information Systems.

Doaa A. Fathallah
Senior Vice-President, General Counsel Europe and Global PDS and Corporate Secretary
 

Ms. Fathallah joined Patheon in May 2008. Most recently, she served as Vice President, General Counsel – Europe, Middle East & Africa (“EMEA”) region for Valeant Pharmaceuticals International. In this capacity, she oversaw the legal affairs of Valeant’s 14 national subsidiaries and 6 branch offices in the EMEA region. Ms. Fathallah was also responsible for the legal affairs of Valeant’s Research & Development division. In addition to her pharmaceutical experience she has extensive experience in all aspects of corporate and business law gained from her time in private practice at law firms including Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP as well as Foley & Lardner LLP. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and has studied International and Comparative Law at the University of Oxford in England. Ms. Fathallah received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California Law Center, is a member of the California State Bar and the American Bar Association.

Geoffrey M. Glass
Senior Vice President of Strategy, Corporate Development and Business Integration
 

Geoffrey M. Glass, Senior Vice President of Strategy, Corporate Development and Integration, has joined Patheon’s Executive team. Mr. Glass leads the company’s global Strategy, Partnership and Acquisition programs, and Marketing functions on a world-wide basis. Immediately prior to Patheon Mr. Glass was the President and founder of a successful consulting business, ClearSciences LLC. Previously, he spent almost five years on the Executive Team at Valeant Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Glass was the Senior Vice President of Asian Operations at Valeant Pharmaceuticals where he had responsibilities for all of Valeant's business affairs in the region which included over 250 products in 14 countries. Prior to that Geoff was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Valeant Pharmaceuticals International. In this role, Mr. Glass was responsible for all information technology-related matters for the company. Prior to joining Valeant, Mr. Glass was the Global Leader of Life Sciences Operations Excellence Practice for Cap Gemini (formerly Ernst & Young LLP Consulting). During his tenure at Cap Gemini, Mr. Glass led global teams through the successful implementation of business and IT transformations at a number of leading life sciences organizations, including Abbott Laboratories, Amgen, Biogen Idec, DuPont, Genentech, and Lexicon Genetics. Mr. Glass has more than a decade of experience in commercial leadership, manufacturing, supply-chain operations, quality management and compliance, IT governance, project management design and organizational change management. Mr. Glass earned his bachelor of arts in Economics and Political Science at the University of Arizona.

 


Doug Mendenhall
Doug Mendenhall
Interim Head, Pharmaceutical Development Services & Chief Scientific Officer


Doug joined Patheon in June 2009 as Interim Head, Pharmaceutical Development Services and Chief Scientific Officer. Doug is a 35 year veteran of the pharmaceutical industry, holding senior executive positions at Abbott, Glaxo/GlaxoWellcome/GlaxoSmithKline and, most recently, Merck. He has spent his career leading pharmaceutical and pre-clinical development organizations and has a track record of developing and bringing to market a very large and impressive list of blockbuster products for three large pharmaceutical companies. Doug holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and a Masters in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Kansas and a bachelors in Pharmacy from the University of Washington. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University/Kellogg School of Management Executive Development Program and is Lean Six-Sigma certified.

Andrew Kelley
Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, Europe and Asia Pacific
  Mr. Kelley joined Patheon in January 2006 as Vice President of Operations for the UK. He progressed to the position of Vice President of Operations for the UK and France and now holds the position of Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for Europe and Asia Pacific and brings to his role more than 24 years of experience in pharmaceutical operations. Mr. Kelley joined Patheon from Cardinal Health, where he spent 15 years in progressively senior production and operational roles, lastly serving as Vice President, Operations for Europe and Site Leader for Swindon. In this position, he was responsible for operations at Cardinal’s site in Swindon, as well as 10 other facilities in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy and Belgium. Prior to Cardinal, he held manufacturing management roles at Boehringer Ingelheim and at Roussel Laboratories. He began his career as a Process and Technical Services Engineer at Esso Chemicals Ltd. Mr. Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College in Oxfordshire, U.K.

Warren A. Horton
Vice-President Global Quality Operations

 


Mr. Horton serves as Vice President of Quality Assurance, Environmental Health & Safety, and Regulatory. Mr. Horton joined Patheon in May 2008, bringing more than 25 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in the area of Quality. Most recently at DSM in Greenville, North Carolina, he was Vice President Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. Prior to that Mr. Horton spend approximately 10 years at Abbott Laboratories in a variety of Production and Quality Assurance roles covering a full range of dosage form types. Mr. Horton is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.

Colin M. Minchom, Ph.D.
Vice President, Pharmaceutical Development Services, North America
  Dr. Minchom joined Patheon in 2000 as Director, Formulation Development.  He was appointed Group Director of PDS at Toronto Region Operations in 2001, and to his current position in 2004.  Prior to joining Patheon, Dr. Minchom was Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Cerebrus Ltd., a UK-based research and biotechnology company, where he was responsible for pharmaceutical development and clinical supply using contract resources. Previously, he held positions of increasing responsibility in formulation development and pharmaceutical project management for Eli Lilly and Company, where he gained experience in the development of formulations for high-profile products. Prior to Eli Lilly, he was employed as a formulation scientist at E.R. Squibb Ltd. and May & Baker Ltd. Dr. Minchom received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the Welsh School of Pharmacy, U.K.  He has been a visiting senior lecturer at the pharmacy school of Kings College, London and has presented lectures to students in the pharmacy schools of Leicester, Aberdeen, Aston and Toronto, sharing his 20 years of academic and industry experience.

Norman Barras
Vice President, Pharmaceutical Development Services, Europe & Asia Pacific
  Mr. Barras joined Patheon in 2005 as Group Director, PDS Swindon, bringing more than 24 years of experience to his role, and was appointed to his current position in April 2006.  Prior to Patheon, he served for 13 years in a number of senior roles at U.K. specialty company Norgine International Ltd., including Medical Director, Scientific Director, and Vice-President of R&D. His career also includes positions with the Upjohn Company, Controlled Therapeutics and PA Consulting Group.  He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Chemistry from Paisley University and a Master of Science in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Hertfordshire.
