A wonderful opportunity for recently qualified Engineering graduate with a years manufacturing experience to demonstrate their capability in an integral Engineering role.

The Technical Engineer is responsible for supporting the facilities, utilities and equipment used in the manufacture of sterile pharmaceutical drugs. An individual contributor role that applies technical support and practical engineering services to develop equipment and process understanding, which may include some validation, safety and asset lifecycle management support.

Key Requirements
  • Supporting stakeholders with robust and controlled equipment initiatives in Operational and Technical leads within manufacturing and Quality to support the Technical Engineering integrity required to manufacture pharmaceuticals.
  • Responsible for the suitable governance, ensuring that equipment and utilities are maintained and validated to the required standard Responsible for manufacturing equipment and process development support.
  • Direct contribution to the preparation and execution of qualification/validation protocols for equipment, mechanical, computer control and utility systems.  Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of process equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Responsibility for the control and development of all relevant engineering problem solving tools such as: HAZOP / FMEA / CAT 
  • This will be a standalone role, requiring the owner to develop their own objectives in-line with the company initiatives and project/manufacturing targets.  
  • Assist the engineering and technical leads to ensure all existing and future equipment meets the technical and quality requirements of the operation.
  • To manage the operational and financial aspects of minor capital/revenue projects. Deliver these within Patheon systems and guidelines with minimal adverse impact and maximum ROI.


  • Educated to degree level in engineering with some experience in manufacturing
  • Experience of manufacturing equipment, equipment qualification, computer control systems and process development is preferred.
  • Suitable understanding of engineering operations including, instruments, controls and the mechanical aspects of manufacturing equipment and associated services such as steam systems and water.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and management of quality through quality systems is advantageous. Experience of Hazop, FMEA, RA (etc) and the utilization of these tools in equipment and service management would be desirable.
  • Can demonstrate planning and organizational skills to manage the operational aspects of minor projects locally.
  • To act as a conduit between manufacture, validation, quality and engineering functions. Ensuring that associated equipment and services is always in a “fit for use” and in a compliant state
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (both oral and written) and demonstrated skills in team matrix working. Needs to have proven ability to deliver technical reports and presentations.
