Protect Yourself from Recruitment Fraud

In recent months there has been an increase in recruitment fraud involving scammers who post fraudulent jobs openings on employment-search websites, or who contact job-seekers who have posted their resumes publicly, and then conduct fake interviews to attempt to obtain personal information or money from the applicants.

How to identify Recruitment Fraud:

  • Patheon includes at least one in-person interview. Patheon will not request an interview on a Google Hangout or any other instant messaging application.
  • Patheon employees use email addresses with the domain “@patheon.com”.
  • Patheon will never send a “start-up check” or “bonus” prior to your first day of employment or ask that you return it and will not ask you to purchase your own equipment.
  • Patheon will never request money for the opportunity to apply or work for Patheon.
  • Patheon does not require completion of tax forms, bank account, or credit card information as part of the recruiting process.
  • Please go to www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0243-job-scams for more helpful tips.
  • If you are unsure if a message is from Patheon, please contact the Patheon site you are applying to the contact information listed here: https://www.patheon.com/en-us/About-Us/Sites.

If you believe you have been the victim of a crime related to one of these scams, here are two government agencies responsible for assisting you: the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center ( www.ic3.gov/default.aspx) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) (www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov).
