2022 BIO International Convention

2022 BIO International Convention

The BIO International Convention attracted approximately 10,000 biotechnology and pharma leaders for one week of intensive networking to discover new opportunities and promising partnerships. They brought together a wide spectrum of life science and application innovators, including drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, nanotechnology, and cell therapy.

As a proud sponsor of this international conference, we had two panel presentations discussing how we can help pharma and new and emerging biotech companies turn pharmaceutical possibilities into realities and get to market faster.

Nirupama Pike’s panel discussion, “Current realities of make vs. buy for cell & gene therapy manufacturing”, included speakers:

  • Andrew Schulman, Director Search Strategy Evaluation (Gene, Cell and Nucleic Acids) at Cytiva
  • Rupa Pike, Senior Director of Technical Affairs, Advanced Therapies at Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • John Kerwin, Technical Head of Gene Therapy Franchise at National Resilience
  • Tom VanCott, Chief Technology & Strategy Officer at Catalent Biologics

An additional panel conferred “Getting It Right: How Early Engagements with CDMOs Add Value to Small Biotechs” with:

  • Moderator – Sue Behrens, PhD
  • Larry Pitcher, General Manager, Microbial Manufacturing Services (MMS), Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Kim Watanabe, General Manager, Site Head, Thermo Fisher Scientific
  • Scott Zook, Senior Vice President, Global Manufacturing, Primmune Therapeutics
